    Our Warmest Welcome

AIMUN 2009 gives our warmest welcome to friends all around the world!

Peking University¡¯s Asian International Model United Nations (AIMUN) Conference is an event that provides a platform for passionate college students to discuss a myriad of global issues that include political conflicts, economic collaboration and societal dilemmas. Role-playing real life diplomats, you could engage in exciting intellectual discourse and cultural exchange as well as garner a unique perspective of world politics.

AIMUN is a continuation and progression of the Peking University Model United Nations Conference (PKUMUNC). First held in 2001, PKUMUNC was an important milestone for the development of MUN activities in Chinese universities. In 2007, having successfully organized 5 consecutive PKUMUNC, the Peking University Model United Nations Association decided to expand the conference onto the regional and global stage, and it was endowed with a new name -- Asian International Model United Nations. With the change in name came an increase in the number and variety of participating delegates and schools, and the inclusion of more discussion committees as well as the organization of exciting social events.

On March 14-17, 2008, 434 delegates from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and 19 countries in Asia, Europe and North America gathered in Peking University to participate in the 2nd Peking University Asian International Model United Nations.AIMUN 2008 had received a welcome letter from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and former UN Under Secretary-General Maurice Strong delivered a speech on the opening ceremony. The 4-day conference proved to be a display of the academic proficiency of our committee dais and delegates and the organizational professionalism of the secretariat.

In March 2009, participants all over the world shall meet again in PKU, witnessing another breakthrough in the 3rd Asian International Model United Nations Conference. With the enthusiasm of participating delegates and the conscientious preparation of the organizing committee, this conference will prove to be another shining point in the arena of international exchange and discourse. For all dedicated to MUN or cultural interaction, it would be an experience of a lifetime.

    AIMUN 2009 awaits you!
